If it shows a voltage (according to the instructions) it's O.K., but if it doesn't, throw it away. I purchased the replacement battery for my electric screwdriver after I tried to charge a defective original battery (it burned out the charger, too). The new charger and battery work fine, but you should be aware that a longer than three hour charge time probably isn't a good thing, and it's a good thing to check the battery with a voltage meter after putting on the charger for a minute. So, after using the first battery and charger for a number of years, I learned something, and bought two rechargable batteries for the future. So far, everything's working fine.
The price was right. These batteries,a pair of Skil 92940 FlexCharge 3.6-Volt 1.0 Amp Hour NiCad Batteries, work just as expected. I am very pleased with this purchase.
I tried not to believe other reviews but ended up wasting my money. Bite the bullet, throw out the tools that use this battery and update your workshop. Trying to continue using this battery system is useless and dangerous.
It holds a full charge so we are good to go. We'll see how long it lasts.
Batteries ordered from Amazon were the same as the original batteries included with the Skil Driver-Drill. I also recommend buying a new battery charger.
